Parchment

Parchment, the only literary journal devoted to contemporary Canadian Jewish writing, champions Canadian Jewish poetry and prose that is diverse in its aesthetics and national in scope.

Founded in 1992, Parchment published riveting fiction and poetry, as well as essays, reviews, and translations by established voices and emerging writers who would help shape the future of Canadian Jewish literature. It published its sixteenth volume in 2014 before it was relaunched as a biannual journal in the spring of 2026.

Published by the Association for Canadian Jewish Studies, with support from the J. Richard Shiff Chair for the Study of Canadian Jewry at York University, Parchment serves as the singular hub for Jewish literary energy in Canada.

Parchment accepts year-round submissions in non-fiction, fiction, poetry, liturgy, reviews, interviews, and cartoons. To learn more about Parchment, including how to contribute and subscribe, please visit its website.

Parchment: Contemporary Canadian Jewish Writing (ISSN 1193-5146) is a biannual publication released in the spring and fall.
